nonprofit rebranding
Problem
The nonprofit Equine Therapy Center came to Back40 Design for help raising awareness about their therapy riding center. Inspired for the cause, Back40 Design decided to provide their services pro-bono and assigned me as client manager.
Process
With only 6-weeks until their fundraiser, we had to act fast. Working as a liaison between client and designers, it required a unique process juggling other paying clients' work with the quick turnaround time needed for this pro-bono project.
strategy
- Rebranding process of renaming nonprofit, creating new logo, identity and brand standards
- Planned fundraising event complete with silent auction, sponsorship tree and horse demonstrations
- Created and copywrote entire new website
- Revamped social media presence
- Reached out to media to cover their renaming and tell their story

Problem
The Cimarron Alliance, Oklahoma's largest LGBT nonprofit, came to The Oklahoma Group with the vision to create Oklahoma's first LGBT community center. They contracted The Oklahoma Group for consulting on the processes of choosing programming and development for their community center to focus on.
Process
As the Team Leader, I led a group of 4 consultants through the semester-long process of finding reality to The Cimarron Alliance's visions. We met tri-weekly, presented in front of a panel of professors three times and finally presented to the board at the end of the semester. It resulted in over 400+ hours over the course of a semester.
Strategy
- Benchmarked and interviewed 10 LGBT community centers around the country
- Concluded that a community needs assessment was the most valuable way to gain the information needed to choose programming
- Researched and interviewed 15+ survey and public affair professionals across the country on the best practices on creating a community needs assessment
- Created a data collection strategy consisting of four components (survey, community dropboxes, focus groups, personal interviews)
- Drafted 64-question survey
- Presented findings, strategy, survey and timeline to board of directors
results
"I don't think anyone in that group knows just how helpful and life-changing their work was."
- Executive Director, The Cimarron Alliance
